Terminology: AI and the Law

“AI” and the law are ripe with jargon about concepts and details that are rarely explained, let alone in in non-technical language.

On the principle that you don’t understand something until you can explain it in simple terms to someone with no knowledge of it can understand, we’re compiling a list of our own definitions of such terms.

This is terminology we most commonly hear and read in the context of "AI", the law, production, and creative industries. We want to understand it ourselves in sufficient detail that we can confidently comprehend its implications, critique it, and discuss it with our team, partners, customers, and the world at large.

So we publish our definitions here, currently totalling 154 entries (29 legal terms and 125 technical terms). You can view them on our website, search within the tables, and even download them for reuse (with attribution).
