Summary of terms on Artificial Intelligence
The collective bargaining agreements that ended the 2023 actors strike in the United States contain several new provisions relating to “AI” tools as used on an actor’s image or performance.
“AI” was one of the major issues in the strike, and these new provisions set the scene for how studios in the United States and producers more generally approach the use of an actor’s image or performance, so we have summarised those provisions here.
There are separate agreements relating to voice actors and in relation to video games, which are not covered here.
